GREEN IMPACT is an initiative designed to place sustainability at the heart of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the Western Balkans, supporting the region’s green transition in line with the European Green Deal. It promotes a Whole Institutional Approach by embedding sustainability into governance, curricula, research and operations. Central to the project are a tailored Institutional Self-Assessment Framework, micro-credentials to strengthen green skills, and hands-on capacity-building that bridges the gap between policy and practice. Through these measures, HEIs are equipped to lead climate resilience, circular economy development and pollution reduction, while fostering stronger collaboration with businesses, schools, communities and other universities. The project enhances institutional capacity for sustainability leadership, develops a future-proof workforce, and creates tailored action plans for campus-wide transformation. By establishing a replicable model, GREEN IMPACT will extend its influence beyond higher education, positioning HEIs as catalysts for a greener, more resilient and prosperous future in the Western Balkans and beyond.
