Description: NURTURE strengthens nutrition and dietetics education by embedding Sustainable Food Systems and Planetary Health into higher education programmes across six universities in Malawi, Ghana and Zambia. The project equips academics and future nutrition professionals with the knowledge, skills and competences needed to understand and address the environmental, social and economic drivers of diets through a context-specific Competence Framework, academic training and flexible micro-courses. By combining innovative teaching approaches, including active, digital and co-design pedagogies, with collaboration between universities and key stakeholders, NURTURE enhances the relevance of nutrition education to emerging sustainability challenges. In doing so, the project prepares graduates for green jobs, strengthens universities’ capacity for educational innovation, and contributes to healthier, more equitable and climate-resilient food systems and communities.
